Cultural practices, such as crop rotation and intercropping, can also help to reduce pest and disease incidence. Chemical pesticides are used only as a last resort, and only when necessary.
Water is a precious resource, especially in a state like UP, where agriculture is heavily dependent on irrigation. Efficient irrigation techniques, such as drip irrigation and sprinkler irrigation, can significantly reduce water wastage. Drip irrigation delivers water directly to the roots of plants, minimizing evaporation and runoff. Sprinkler irrigation distributes water evenly over the field, reducing waterlogging and soil erosion.
