खाने के मामले में सिंगापुर का कोई मुकाबला नहीं है। यहाँ का स्ट्रीट फूड कल्चर इतना समृद्ध है कि इसे यूनेस्को (UNESCO) द्वारा मान्यता प्राप्त है। हॉकर सेंटर्स (Hawker Centres) यहाँ की जान हैं। मैक्सवेल फूड सेंटर में मिलने वाला 'हैनीज चिकन राइस' (Hainanese Chicken Rice) इतना स्वादिष्ट है कि लोग इसके लिए लंबी कतारों में खड़े रहते हैं। मैंने खुद वहां 45 मिनट इंतजार किया था, और विश्वास मानिए, वह हर सेकंड के लायक था।
