सीडीएसएल एक सरकारी मान्यता प्राप्त डिपॉजिटरी है जो निवेशकों के लिए प्रतिभूतियों को डीमैटरियलाइज्ड रूप में रखती है। इसका मतलब है कि आपके शेयर अब कागजी प्रमाणपत्रों के रूप में नहीं, बल्कि इलेक्ट्रॉनिक रूप में रखे जाते हैं। यह प्रक्रिया शेयरों को सुरक्षित रखने, लेन-देन को आसान बनाने और कागजी कार्रवाई को कम करने में मदद करती है। कल्पना कीजिए कि आपको अपने सारे शेयर एक भारी-भरकम बक्से में रखने पड़ते थे! सीडीएसएल ने इस बोझ को पूरी तरह से खत्म कर दिया है।
सीडीएसएल सीधे निवेशकों के साथ काम नहीं करता है। यह डिपॉजिटरी पार्टिसिपेंट्स (डीपी) के माध्यम से काम करता है। डीपी ब्रोकर, बैंक या अन्य वित्तीय संस्थान हो सकते हैं जो सीडीएसएल के साथ पंजीकृत हैं। आपको सीडीएसएल के साथ एक डीमैट खाता खोलने के लिए एक डीपी से संपर्क करना होगा। डीमैट खाता एक बैंक खाते की तरह होता है, लेकिन यह शेयरों और अन्य प्रतिभूतियों को रखने के लिए होता है।
जब आप शेयर खरीदते हैं, तो वे आपके डीमैट खाते में जमा हो जाते हैं। जब आप शेयर बेचते हैं, तो वे आपके डीमैट खाते से निकाल लिए जाते हैं। ये सभी लेन-देन इलेक्ट्रॉनिक रूप से किए जाते हैं और सीडीएसएल द्वारा रिकॉर्ड किए जाते हैं। मान लीजिए, आपने किसी कंपनी के 100 शेयर खरीदे। ये शेयर आपके डीमैट खाते में तुरंत दिखाई देने लगेंगे।
