जब आसमान में काले बादल घिरते हैं और पहली बूंद धरती को छूती है, तो उस मिट्टी की खुशबू में एक अजीब सा जादू होता है। बारिश सिर्फ एक मौसम नहीं है, यह एक अहसास है जो हर किसी के दिल को छू जाता है। बचपन में कागज की कश्तियां तैराने से लेकर जवानी में खिड़की के पास बैठकर पुरानी यादों में खो जाने तक, मानसून का हर किसी के जीवन में एक खास स्थान है।
आपने कभी गौर किया है कि बारिश की बूंदों की आवाज़ में कितना सुकून होता है? इसे 'व्हाइट नॉइस' कहा जाता है, जो हमारे दिमाग को शांत करने में मदद करता है। जब मैं छोटा था, तो मेरे दादाजी अक्सर कहते थे कि जब अंबर रोता है, तो धरती मुस्कुराती है। यह बात आज भी उतनी ही सच लगती है। सूखी नदियां फिर से बहने लगती हैं, पेड़-पौधे धूल से मुक्त होकर हरे-भरे हो जाते हैं, और पूरी प्रकृति जैसे एक नई ऊर्जा से भर जाती है।
भारत में तो मानसून का इंतज़ार किसी त्यौहार से कम नहीं होता। किसान आसमान की ओर उम्मीद भरी निगाहों से देखते हैं। यह पानी सिर्फ प्यास नहीं बुझाता, बल्कि यह हमारी अर्थव्यवस्था की रीढ़ भी है। लेकिन शहरी जीवन में इसका मतलब थोड़ा बदल गया है। यहाँ बारिश का मतलब है ट्रैफिक जाम, कीचड़, लेकिन साथ ही गरमा-गरम पकोड़े और अदरक वाली चाय का सुख भी।
अगर बाहर रिमझिम फुहारें पड़ रही हों और हाथ में चाय का कप न हो, तो यह मौसम अधूरा सा लगता है। भारतीय घरों में जैसे ही बादल गरजते हैं, रसोई से बेसन और तेल की खुशबू आने लगती है। प्याज के भजिए, आलू के पकोड़े, या फिर भुट्टा (कॉर्न) जिसे कोयले पर भूनकर नींबू और नमक के साथ खाया जाता है—ये सब मानसून के सच्चे साथी हैं।
मुझे याद है एक बार जब मैं मुंबई में था, मरीन ड्राइव पर बैठकर समंदर की लहरों को उठते देखना और साथ में सड़क किनारे मिलने वाला वड़ा पाव खाना। वह अनुभव किसी फाइव स्टार होटल के डिनर से कहीं ज्यादा संतोषजनक था। मौसम का मिजाज हमारे स्वाद को बदल देता है। हम तली-भुनी चीजें ज्यादा पसंद करने लगते हैं क्योंकि ठंडी हवाओं में गर्म खाना शरीर को राहत देता है। हालांकि, इस मौसम में बाहर का खाना खाते समय थोड़ी सावधानी भी बरतनी चाहिए, क्योंकि जल-जनित बीमारियों का खतरा भी बढ़ जाता है।
जहाँ एक तरफ यह मौसम खुशियां लाता है, वहीं दूसरी तरफ यह अपने साथ कुछ चुनौतियां भी लेकर आता है। नमी और उमस के कारण बैक्टीरिया और वायरस तेजी से पनपते हैं। सर्दी, खांसी और वायरल बुखार इस मौसम में आम मेहमान बन जाते हैं।
